2006 Team Circuit - August 9, 2006 |
Please excuse the tardiness of this report, I have just returned from quick trip to Kilgore, Texas to visit the Skeeter Boat Company. I am very happy to report to you, that the folks at Skeeter are excited as we are about the up coming 2007 season here in Indiana. They have a wonderful facility & made me feel very welcome. I was able to see the "New" designed TX Series Boats for 2007. They have made many new changes to these boats that some lucky team will win in our 2007 season. Sunday was a typical August day -- Hot!!! There were 139 bass brought to the scales, by 74 teams with the total weight of 344.13 lbs. with 4 limits & with 59 teams weighing in fish. I am also happy to report that we only lost 2 fish at this event. You should all be commended for your efforts to keep your fish alive. We only had 1 fish that was brought in to the scales that was dead. When I left the area at about 8:00 p.m. there was another fish that had died. With all the problems that some tournaments in Wisconsin are having, we should feel pretty good about that. I've heard some rumbling about the time that it takes us to weigh in your fish. Please let me explain to you why this is happening. The D.N.R. requires us to measure & record each & every fish that is caught. If we don't do this, we will not be able to apply for future tournament permits on D.N.R. waters! I along with other tournament directors are trying to work with them so we will not be required to have to do this at every event. This is also why I have asked all of you this season to please be patient at the weigh-in. If the line is long please leave your fish in your live wells until the line goes down some. This has not been working very well. This is the reason why I spaced out the flights to half-hour on Sunday. I know in the summer its very hot, your tired and your just wanting to weigh in your fish & get off the water, but we must do what is required of us when fishing the D.N.R. waters. I am always open to suggestions & will be more than happy to discuss any matter with you. The Tournament Winners were the team of Dave Sanders & Rob Keel they had 4 fish with the total weight of 14.53 lbs, their winnings for 1st Place was $1702.00. 2nd Place & the 2006 POINTS CHAMPIONS went to the team of Ed & David Hargis of Heltonville, Indiana. They had a 4 fish limit that weighed 13.97 lbs. earning them a check for $814.00. Ed & David had 525 points out of a possible 600 points. They were also the 2005 Points Champions. 3rd Place was the team of Tom Forrester & Lori Forrester. They weighed in a 4 fish that weighed 13.47 lbs, they also won Top Male/Female Team & 2nd Big Bass of the tournament, a 5.70 lb. fish winning a total of $692.00 & a new Falcon Rod. Big Bass of the tournament went to the team of Dale Brand & Dan Pennington - they brought in a 6.58 lbs. toad and won $740 .00. Great Job to all the Winners!
Sunday was our final qualifying event for the 2006 season. As of Sunday, there was $10,707.00 in the Classic Fund. This number will increase after receiving the classic entries. There will be 10 positions paid out at the classic. If the remaining field is filled there will be a total of $14.707.00 in the 2006 classic fund. 1st place will pay $6000.00 if filled. I mailed out the classic entries today, for the ones that left early on Sunday. If you don't receive it in the next couple of days give me a call so we can get one to you. Entry deadline is midnight, August 27, 2006. I will contact the next qualifier as soon as I possibly can, to fill this year's classic field. PLEASE SUPPORT ALL OF OUR SPONSOR'S WHENEVER POSSIBLE!
